March and SXSW

Happy March!

The weather is finally being good to us here in Austin, Texas after a rainy, and even snowy, winter!

The past two weeks were spent on the road traveling all over the midwest, up to Chicago, and back down through Tennessee.  We met a ton of new folks (some of you may be getting your first newsletter here, thanks for signing up at the merch table!), saw lots of friends and family, and played with some truly amazing bands.

A heartfelt thank you to all who came out to the shows, put us up, cooked us meals, bought us shots, listened to the tunes - I can’t wait to get back out on the road and do it all over again, and it’s because of yall that we can keep gas in the tank and pour our hearts out every night on the road, Cheers!

ACL Fest Wrap Up / November Residency

Hey folks,

What a month it has been!
We got to play Austin City Limits Music Festival!
We had a great show, got some exciting write-ups, and saw tons of wonderful performances from other bands.

HERE is a link to a few photos our good friend Tyson Heder took both behind the scenes and during our performance

Consequence of Sound caught our set and ranked it in their top 10 performances of weekend one at the festival, see what they have to say HERE

We got another top 10 ranking (#2 behind Spoon, dang!) from Vinyl List of Local band performances at ACL 2017 HERE

Following our set I chatted with Austin Monthly in the ACL press tent, read the quick Q&A HERE

The band and I did a live performance of "Maybe They're Just Really Good Friends" for one of our favorite local radio stations, KUTX 98.9. Check out the video HERE

On Saturday of ACL, Sam Kossler and I stopped by Threadgill's for KGSR's coverage of the festival and we did a live interview and broadcast of a couple tunes. See some video footage HERE

Thanks to everyone who came out early on the first Friday of the festival to make it a successful and memorable Austin City Limits experience for us, it meant a lot to finally play a festival I'd grown up attending as an audience member.

In NOVEMBER we'll be playing a FREE weekly residency at one of our favorite hometown bars, The White Horse. (500 Comal st.) Catch us EVERY THURSDAY in NOVEMBER at MIDNIGHT.  Yes, even THANKSGIVING! We'll be playing new tunes, old tunes, friends' tunes, AND we'll have new merchandise.  Come get it!

I'll also be working non-stop to get this new record ready for release, I can't wait to share it!

Check out these recent articles/interviews covering some of what I've been up to …

"12:30 p.m. Carson McHone (Tito’s): Continue your tour of sounds from the actual city limits with the rising singer-songwriter’s intelligent alt-country."

- ACL Fest 2017: Here's Who You Should Go See   Austin American Statesman

"This is the story of a woman evolving. Which sometimes can come with a lot of pushback. Country music fans tend to like things in small, edible bites. There’s no doubt that McHone is beautiful, or that she can play well, or that she can write a good song. But now, she’s ready to prove that she has something to say."

-Dive Star Bar  Rachel Hurley

"Carson McHone’s 2015 debut full-length, Goodluck Man, established the native singer-songwriter as one of the capital’s rising country stars, but she’s got broader sights set for her follow-up. She began working with producer Mike McCarthy almost two years ago when he still lived here, and recently finished recording at his new Nashville studio.  It breathed new life into these songs, which pushed in all kinds of different directions. It doesn’t sound like throwback country, because I didn’t want to make that kind of record. Yet it’s not a departure, really. I think it just sounds a little more mature.”

"Goodluck Man" Out Now!

This week has been pretty amazing. The support that has poured out from all corners this week has been incredible, from radio to newsprint, to my friends and family, to complete strangers, and and I can't tell you how much it means, and I want to thank everyone for any contribution, big or small, for kind words, for sharing the music, for dancing, for coming out to the shows, for supporting the venues we play at, the bands we play with, all of it, every bit, counts!

Today is the day! It's been a long time coming and now my first full length album, "Goodluck Man", is officially out in the world.
